"It's not like there's someone right next to you or someone right on your tail," Mitchell said yesterday as he prepares to defend his eight-year dominance of Hawaii's iconic Molokai to Oahu Ocean Paddling Race. "I mean, there can be 150 out there and I might only see a couple of people for five or 10 minutes at the start and then you're on your own for another four hours, so it's really you and the ocean."
